A shared love for creativity and for Twerton, Bath, unites a community of people who volunteer at the Rec House.
There can be a number of other reasons for volunteering. These include:
- Meeting new people
- Helping others
- Having fun
- Gaining new skills
- Professional and personal mentorship
- Access to studio and rehearsal space
- Working in a collaborative environment
- Getting involved in a cause that matters
Those who volunteer their time to The Rec House often speak of being in community with one another. Whilst this can be difficult at times, it is also powerful, and has become one of our philosophical foundations.
We always welcome new volunteers who want to come and get involved and we are committed to covering reasonable expenses. We have two levels of volunteering. The first involves committing to coming along to events and activities, helping to set up and clear away, distributing fliers and posters, being welcoming to guests who may come through our doors.
The second involves being a key volunteer. Key volunteers are those who have been coming along to The Rec House for a longer period of time, and who are looking to take more responsibility at The Rec House. Key volunteers can take opportunities such as applying for DBS clearance, attending a first aid course, planning, stewarding and hosting events and activities, and becoming an event reviewer and photographer. Our key volunteers are also involved in running the Community Choir, running the audio visual equipment, and being responsible for unlocking and locking the premises.
If you would like to be involved please get in touch.
